Canton FFA Trap Shooting Team Celebrates Seniors at Fall Banquet

The Canton FFA Trapshooting team finished their season with a 13th-place finish at Area, scoring 221. The season started with a doubleheader in Memphis at Lake Show-Me on September 6th.  Drew Gottman had a perfect 25 straight with a score of 49/50 and a 3rd place finish at Memphis. Next, the team traveled to Boscos in Lancaster for the Schuyler County trap shoot. On September 13th, the Canton FFA Chapter, along with the Lewis County C-1 FFA Chapter, hosted a trap shoot in West Quincy for Area Schools. Drew Gottman and Connor Welker both had a 25 straight. The team finished with a 1st place. On September 20, the Canton FFA competed in a yearly tradition of facing off against Lewis County C-1 to compete head-to-head on their Home practice range. This year, Lewis County hosted the event, and all teams competed at the Twelve Point Gun Club.  All scores are averaged together, and the Canton FFA Chapter was declared the champion. Highlights from the event included Drew Gottman with a 50 straight, Connor Welker with a 25 straight, Will Jansen with a 25 straight, Braydon Feldkamp with a 25 straight, and Austin Weaver with a 25 straight. The teams finished out their regular season on September 27th, competing at West Quincy for the JT Fundraiser to help fellow FFA member JT Thomas from Palmyra, who was injured during a football game. Drew Gottman and Jonathan LaCount both tied for 1st place at the event.  The Area III trap shoot was held at Boscos in Lancaster. Drew Gottman was recognized at the Chapter Banquet this fall for High Individual shooter. Landen Shaffer will be recognized for Most Improved. The chapter and team will miss the 5 graduating seniors from the team: Drew Gottman, Connor Welker, Will Jansen, Drew Logsdon, and Austin Weaver. Thank you to all the supporters throughout this trap shooting season. The team receives financial support from the Eagles, money is collected as Tips during the Gun Auctions and Canton FFA Alumni, and money is raised through the Alumni Auction held on the first Saturday in March 7, 2026.
