Guest Artist Linda Green
December 05, 2025
Lewis County artist Linda Green is the Canton Public Library Guest Artist for the month of December. Her artwork will be on display throughout the month. All are invited to meet Linda at an opening reception on Thursday, December 11 from 6:00 PM to 7:00 PM. A Gallery Talk will take place at 6:15. Refreshments will be served.
When Linda was a little girl and asked for a box of 64 Crayola crayons, she was told no. When her Grandma showed her how to use the few crayons she had to shade the grapes in her coloring book, her interest in the art world was launched. “The problem was,” she says, “I soon had interests in science, math, Girl Scouts, 4-H, and more,” and her artistic endeavors were put on hold.
While Linda was working as a Clinical Laboratory Scientist, she began craving that creative feeling. She found some likeminded artists, and as a group, founded the Mid-Missouri Arts Alliance (a 501c3 non-profit group) in Ashland, Missouri. “With my new close friends, I have renewed my commitment to constantly improve my painting and learn new techniques,” Linda says.
Linda enjoys teaching classes for adults and school age kids in various painting mediums, hand-built ceramics classes, and other artistic techniques. “I have taught classes for Little Masters ages 3-6, 4-H groups, home school students, gifted student groups, summer youth art camp, paint parties from 6-28 adults, and even a few small groups at my dining room table. I really want everyone to enjoy art. If someone tells me, ‘I can’t even draw a straight line’, I tell them, ‘No worries, I have rulers for that.’”
All are welcome to attend the Guest Artist Reception and Gallery Talk on Thursday, December 11 at 6 p.m.
The library is located at 403 Lewis Street in Canton. It is open Monday - Friday 9 AM to 6 PM and Saturdays 10 AM to 2 PM. Visit the library at www.cantonmopubliclibrary.org, on Facebook at Your Canton Library, or call 573-288-5279 for more information.
